Online Portfolios

I have chosen the following link as a target to talk about for an online portfolio reference
http://litruv.com/

The following website is a portfolio that shows the skills learnt by a second year 3d artist, the following website has an alright techniques in displaying the artwork although the website feels like its highly designed just for mobile devices with a touch screen feel whilst scrolling through the screenshots of the most recently added model, The website also shows through a blog of the artist showing of their animations modelling texturing and all other skills that the artist has to offer as well as showing future artworks and the work process he is currently going through

The idea of a touch screen photo gallery is a perfect idea to show off your artwork in any area at anytime making it perfect to display on a mobile device making it easy to show off in a business interview

Industry Sources - Research Project Games Industry

The Games Industry

1. On Average A person in this industry earns upwards of 52,000 a year

2. The Creative Process used in the creation of games usually starts an idea of what the story is maybe they use a story board or just convey their conceptual ideas to a company or group keen to work on the project, Step two is doing concept design, Concepts of character, Environment, Weapons or any other game related things after these process are started the designers will then start to form the design
The Creative Process is all through the games industry to personalised stylations in modelling texturing and of course concepts.

3. Environment Artist, 2D Concept artist, Junior 2D Artist, Senior Producer, VFX Artist, System Designer, Lead Mission Designer, Game Designer, Senior Character Artist, Senior Animator, Concept Artist,   Sr. Game Designer, 3D Character Interaction Designer, Industrial Designer, Level Designer and Sound Designer  Are all examples of creative work in the games industry

4. Jobs in this group usually require completion of a recognised Bachelor Degree, or extensive relevant experience. Some jobs also require post-graduate study, such as a Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Master Degree.

5. Too work in industry your software will be provided for you but you must have your own skills to use the product, on the other hand if you work in an indie company you will be forced to provide yourself with your own software and equipment.

6. There is job opportunities for this industry all over the world although most jobs seem to lay on the eastern seaboard of america, Unless you are likely to go into the indie games industry where you could work anywhere

7. The army uses a lot of games industry work to create simulations, the army isn't he only industry that uses this it is also becoming quite common practice to use simulations in the mining industry and many other industries
I wouldn't have a problem using my skills in the simulation industry as it wouldn't be much of a change from what I'm already experiencing in the games industry

8.This industries hours can be anything from your 9 - 5 hours a week but it usually results in a lot of overtime work that doesn't pay off till the projects are finished
In the indie industry their hours are to fit in when there is time otherwise you will never earn any money off your project

9. Hopefully if i was to make an entrance into the games industry i would start with an entrance into the company through QA and work my way through the ranks to lead level design which would be my dream job

10.It will be challenging

11. At the start of entering the industry my creative control will be incredibly controlled by concept artist and lead designers but hopefully i still have the ability to personalised my own objects

12. The industry creates games that create a lot of fun for people in their downtime after work or school ethical issues in the games industry have always been pushed but i believe they should be treated like any other industry and have classifications

13. I usually prefer working with a team of close friends than by myself but either way it doesn't really phase me

14. Yes i can manage people but it would take me many years to work up to a position where i was control people

Identifying opportunities - QA Tester

Oppertunities associated with this job include a maasive on, a foot in the door, being a QA tester leads you with the ability to get to know people in the industry and connections are the key to success in any industry the problem with getting this job is numerous including actually getting the job to moving all the way to america with all of my stuff finding a place to stay and being able to Financially support all of this.
It is already possible to get this job it is just relying on the companies decision to let me in the door or to find someone better suiting to the situation
Once id have my foot in the door as a QA tester it would be up to me to associate with many of the artists and higher up the chain so if there was to be a job opportunity hopefully i would be able to fill it

Positive Self Reflection for Being A QA Tester

A QA tester would be a great entrance into the games industry as well as a very interesting jobs getting to play newly found games before they come out as well as get an early introduction into the industry watching how things all fall together, it would also be a great way to show off my skills to those already in the industry and get an early foot in the door
